HOUSTON -- Prior to the series opener with the Astros on Friday, two D-backs pitchers received results after undergoing MRIs in Phoenix. One could return to the mound soon; the other's immediate future looks less clear.
Left-handed reliever T.J. McFarland was diagnosed with inflammation of a bone spur around his elbow, an ailment that is not expected to sideline him for a long period of time. Right-hander Clay Buchholz, however, could be out longer -- his MRI revealed a flexor strain in his forearm, and according to manager Torey Lovullo, the staff has yet to determine what the next step is for the veteran starter.
