Last year, the Houston Astros' attempts to sign top draft pick Brady Aiken turned into a soap opera. Houston had issues with Aiken's physical, lowered its offer and ultimately failed to sign him.
This year's top pick, Vanderbilt shortstop Dansby Swanson, also remains unsigned with just a few days to go before the signing deadline at 2 p.m. Arizona time Friday. But the Diamondbacks, Swanson's drafting team, don't seem very worried.
"I can't tell you what he's going to do or what his advisers will tell him to do," said De Jon Watson, the Diamondbacks' senior vice president of baseball operations.
