Dave Stewart isn’t expecting to get much done at the general manager’s meetings this week in south Florida, but the Diamondbacks GM is planning to at least lay some groundwork with agents in hopes of landing the starting pitching his club needs.
“I know there are going to be a lot of agents there,” Stewart said Sunday. “We may be able to get an opportunity to talk to these guys about some of the free agents. I don’t know if there’s going to be a lot as far as the trades are concerned.”
Stewart says he would prefer to go that route to augment the rotation rather than dealing away from the position player depth the organization has built.
