PHOENIX -- The D-backs on Wednesday night acquired right-hander Taijuan Walker and infielder Ketel Marte from the Mariners in exchange for second baseman Jean Segura, outfielder Mitch Haniger and left-handed reliever Zac Curtis.
"Young, controllable pitching is hard to find, and adding Taijuan to the rotation gives us significant depth in that area," said D-backs GM Mike Hazen. "In Ketel, we believe we have acquired a talented switch-hitting shortstop to join a very solid core of young middle infielders."
Walker, 24, was clearly the centerpiece for the D-backs, who have been looking to upgrade their starting rotation.
