D-backs and Brandon Pfaadt Agree To A 5-Year Contract Extension

Another piece of the long-term future got locked up by Arizona today, with the news that the Diamondbacks had agreed with right-handed pitcher Brandon Pfaadt on a 5-year contract extension. That begins next year, so will run through 2030, and also comes with a club option for 2031 and a (probably largely useless) mutual option for 2032. It covers his final year of pre-arbitration next year, then the three years of arbitration and adds one year of free-agency before the options start.

The 26-year-old was picked in the fifth round of the 2020 draft, and reached the major leagues in May 2023.
