The first piece of the playoff push is here. The D-backs acquired Tony Renda from the Cincinnati Reds according to the Triple-A affiliate for the Reds. The D-backs will send in return a PTBNL or cash considerations.
Renda, a 26-year old utility player, was drafted out of the 2nd round by the Washington Nationals in 2012 and included in two separate trades for relievers. The first, by the Nationals for David Carpenter and the second, by the Yankees in the very large Aroldis Chapman trade later that year.
While his stats are nothing to gloat about, Renda has the ability to play all over the diamond, a trait that should keep him on the field.
