To put it mildly, the past 24 hours-plus has been a whirlwind for the D-Backs with a flurry of trades, an absolute shellacking of the Nationals last night, and then a dramatic game that nearly resulted in yet another blown lead. It’s probably for the best that the team has a scheduled off-day before beginning another crucial road trip against fellow Wild Card contender Pittsburgh and division-leader Cleveland.
Predictably, after their season-high tying run output last night, the D-Backs found themselves in a pitching duel between one of the Nationals’ better starting pitchers in 25 year old MacKenzie Gore and team ace Zac Gallen.
