As he warmed up in the bullpen on Tuesday evening, Diamondbacks right-hander Corbin Martin’s delivery was easy, his command precise. But when the game began, everything changed -- and Martin couldn’t figure out a way to correct it.
Martin was hammered for six runs in four innings during an 8-0 loss to the San Francisco Giants. He fell behind in counts. He walked batters. He made costly mistakes over the plate. He wound up feeling like he beat himself.
“You can’t do that at this level,” Martin said. “It’s frustrating. You wish you could take it all back and restart.
