For the fifth consecutive time, Madison Bumgarner turned in a performance in which he was in total control. He fired seven scoreless innings on Tuesday night. He struck out nine and did not walk a batter. He was dominant, again.
Or, put it another way: Bumgarner was every bit as good on Tuesday as he was bad for most of last year and for the beginning of this season. His turnaround has been astonishing.
Speaking to reporters after an 11-3 trouncing of the Miami Marlins at Chase Field, Bumgarner said he “definitely can” put his finger on what has changed for him over the past few weeks.
