DENVER – Socrates Brito’s swing was smooth and powerful, and from the moment the ball left his bat in the seventh inning on Sunday, there was little doubt where it would end up. It was a swing the likes of which he hadn’t taken very often this year in the majors, but the kind Diamondbacks people had seen with regularity during his time in the minors.
The kind that makes them confident Brito’s season isn’t representative of the talent he possesses.
“Every time he hits homers, it’s kind of special the way he hits them,” right-hander Archie Bradley said on Sunday, after Brito’s three-run homer helped the Diamondbacks escape Coors Field with an 8-5 win and a series victory over the Colorado Rockies.
