You can add Boston Red Sox slugger J.D. Martinez to the growing list of athletes facing scrutiny over old social media posts. But his post isn't racist, homophobic or misogynistic, it's pro-gun.
The post on Instagram from 2013, when Martinez was with the Houston Astros, features a picture of Hitler doing the Nazi salute with the quote — “To conquer a nation, First disarm it’s (sic) citizens.”
"This is why I always stay strapped! #thetruth,” Martinez wrote on the post.
On Tuesday, Martinez addressed the media and said that he didn't mean to offend anyone with the Instagram post.
