Boivin: Line starts at 3 a.m. for Chicago Cubs spring training tickets

When it comes to the Chicago Cubs, fan passion runs deep.

Especially on the heels of the team’s first World Series victory in 108 years.

Lines started forming at Mesa’s Sloan Park to buy spring training tickets at about 3 a.m. Saturday, a team representative said. Tickets went on sale seven hours later.

Tickets also were available online and by phone.

Fans willing to pay a premium were able to buy tickets Friday. MasterCard users were charged 15 percent more, and other forms of payment used included an addition 20 percent fee.

Some fans on social media griped about the prices, but most sounded giddy about securing tickets.
