Diamondbacks announcer Bob Brenly has apologized for calling out Mets pitcher Marcus Stroman for wearing a scarf under his hat.
“Pretty sure that’s the same du-rag that Tom Seaver used to wear when he pitched for the Mets,” Brenly said.
Brenly backtracked on Wednesday.
“During last night’s game, I made a poor attempt at humor that was insensitive and wrong,” he said.
It’s the latest in a string of examples that paint the Diamondbacks as out of touch on issues of diversity, inclusion and leadership. It also raises the question of whether this is the type of organization that should represent a growing and increasingly diverse state?
