In sports, being vulnerable usually means you have a weakness that can be exploited.
But for the Diamondbacks this season, it is a desired trait.
Granted, “Be Vulnerable” probably isn’t going to be printed on t-shirts and sold in the team shop, but the phrase is almost a mantra for the Diamondbacks as they transition to a new era for the 2019 baseball season.
Paul Goldschmidt, the team’s best and most popular player, is gone, traded to St. Louis. A handful of other important, familiar players departed, too, including pitcher Patrick Corbin, outfielder A.J. Pollock and infielder Daniel Descalso.
