Baseball will return to the Olympics next year for the first time since 2008.
Whether the six-team field in Tokyo will include the United States, a team without major league players, is less than a sure thing.
"We're not getting ahead of ourselves," said Scott Brosius, USA Baseball senior director of player development and manager of the Premier12 tournament team trying to qualify for the Olympics this month. "We definitely want to be an Olympic team. We know what it means and want to put our best foot forward."
Brosius, 1998 World Series MVP for the New York Yankees, took over as Premier12 manager when Joe Girardi left to return major league managing with the Philadelphia Phillies.
