Anyone who has lived in Arizona long knows it’s best to be kind, but firm, when people call to schedule visits.
There’s nothing wrong with saying, “no, that time doesn’t work for us. Maybe we can set something up for later.”
That’s what we should tell Major League Baseball, which, according to an ESPN report on Tuesday, is focusing on a plan that would have all 30 teams playing regular-season games in Arizona as early as May.
That means players, managers, coaches, broadcasters, umpires, team officials, media and others would be coming here, to Maricopa County, just as the nation reawakens (maybe) from the shutdown induced by the coronavirus pandemic.
