Diamondbacks right-hander Zac Gallen passed a big test in his recovery from an elbow sprain, throwing a 30-pitch bullpen session on Tuesday without issues. His next hurdle will come in the form of an MRI scheduled for Thursday morning.
“The medical staff just kind of wanted to get some bullpens under my belt and see how the elbow and everything handled those types of stress, something that hadn’t been done in a couple of weeks,” Gallen said.
Gallen, the Diamondbacks’ top starter, has not pitched since May 7 due to what was called a minor sprain in the ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow.
