The Diamondbacks landed a pitcher with frontline starter stuff, if not the results, on Wednesday night, acquiring right-hander Taijuan Walker in a five-player trade that sent infielder Jean Segura to the Seattle Mariners.
In the first deal struck by new General Manager Mike Hazen, the Diamondbacks also gave up outfielder Mitch Haniger and left-handed reliever Zac Curtis. Along with Walker, the Mariners sent infielder Ketel Marte to the Diamondbacks.
