Even after hitting for Nick Ahmed twice in as many days, manager Torey Lovullo indicated that his struggling shortstop is not at risk of losing starts given the way his season has started.
Ahmed, who missed the first eight games of the season with a right knee injury, went 0 for 4 on Thursday, making him 3 for 40 with two walks and no extra-base hits this season. Just as he was on Wednesday night, Ahmed again was removed for a pinch-hitter late in the game.
“The swing is a little disconnected,” Lovullo said. “It’s not synced up.
