The Diamondbacks have finalized a contract with top pick Bryce Jarvis, signing the right-hander out of Duke to a deal that includes a $2.65 million signing bonus. Jarvis has passed his physical exam.
The bonus is considerably less than the $3.48 million that Jarvis’ slot at No. 18 overall was worth. The team is expected to use that savings to lock down the rest of its selections.
Three of the club’s other picks, in particular, have leverage given their circumstances: Miami right-hander Slade Cecconi (second round) was a draft-eligible sophomore and lefty Liam Norris (third round) and third baseman A.
