The Diamondbacks were notified Wednesday that Salt River Fields will be the latest venue to close, General Manager Mike Hazen said, adding that the team will shift its operations to Chase Field during the coronavirus shutdown.
The Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community, which owns the facility, also shut down Talking Stick Resort and Casino Arizona, among other properties.
Hazen said the Diamondbacks will maintain the same operating standards they had at their spring training facility for players working out there, i.e., keeping them in small groups and ensuring a clean environment.
“We will be transitioning operations down to Chase to continue to provide an avenue for guys, if they need it,” Hazen said.
