Arizona Diamondbacks set to add reliever Joakim Soria on one-year deal

The Diamondbacks agreed to terms with free-agent right-hander Joakim Soria, a move that, once official, gives them a steady reliever with experience working the ninth inning.

Soria will receive a one-year deal worth $3.5 million, according to a source. He has a chance to earn another $500,000 in bonuses based on appearances. The deal is pending a physical exam.

Assuming the deal is completed, it marks the first notable addition the Diamondbacks have made in what has been a stagnant offseason. Prior to this, they had made only waiver wire moves, selected (and promptly traded) a player in the Rule 5 draft and declined contract options on veterans Mike Leake, Hector Rondon and Junior Guerra.
