The Diamondbacks announced on Wednesday the four teams they plan to have as affiliates under baseball’s revamped minor-league system for next season: the Reno Aces (Triple-A), Amarillo Sod Poodles (Double-A), Hillsboro Hops (High-A) and Visalia Rawhide (Low-A).
Reno is only franchise returning in the same role as in previous years. This will be the 13th year the Aces have been the Diamondbacks’ top affiliate.
Amarillo will be entering its third season in existence, having relocated from San Antonio after the 2018 season. It had been a Double-A affiliate of the San Diego Padres.
The Diamondbacks have been affiliated with the Hillsboro franchise since 2001, when it was located in Yakima, but each of the previous 20 seasons have been at a short-season level.
