Right-hander Zack Greinke threw about 60 pitches in parts of four innings against Diamondbacks minor leaguers on Wednesday afternoon. He did not look especially sharp and he did not seem excited about how he threw.
“It was all right,” Greinke said. “I got some outs.”
The outing was Greinke’s first action in a game environment since exiting his start last week with right groin tightness. On Sunday, he threw more than 40 pitches in a bullpen session and seemed genuinely pleased about how he felt. He did not seem as optimistic on Wednesday.
“My groin’s pretty good at the moment,” he said.
