As expected, the Arizona Diamondbacks exercised the 2016 contract options for pitchers Brad Ziegler and Josh Collmenter. Ziegler will earn $5.5 million dollars next year while Collmenter will receive $1.825 million dollars. With the retention of these two pitchers, the only two players from the 2015 team who are not under contract are catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia and pitcher David Hernandez.
Ziegler enjoyed one of the best seasons of his career as he became the Snakes’ closer when Addison Reed was removed from the role in June.
