ARLINGTON, Texas — For as complicated as the Diamondbacks upcoming trade deadline decision might appear on the surface, it seems to be growing simpler by the day. The longer the Diamondbacks remain stuck in mediocrity — regardless of where they are in the wild-card race — the more logical it becomes for them to sell.
Predicting what will happen in a baseball season is notoriously difficult, even two-thirds of the way into it. Seemingly good teams can fall apart down the stretch; last year’s Diamondbacks did exactly that. And seemingly average ones can catch fire and go on an extended run.
