No particular surprises in the second batch of cuts, with none of the above particularly expected to male the Opening Day roster this year. Thins out the herd of left-handed pitching options a bit though, and it ends the (slim) chances of Shipley breaking through into the rotation to start 2016. Some major-league experience there, most obviously Stauffer, a ten-year veteran with over 200 appearances to his name. Hall, Loewen, Rice and Rivero also have more or less MLB time to their names. Koch hasn't been in the majors yet, but was on our 40-man roster, hence the need for him to be optioned.
