NATIONAL HARBOR, Md. – The winter meetings came to an end on Thursday morning with the Diamondbacks having made no major changes. They’re close to finalizing a deal for a closer and they picked up another reliever in the Rule 5 draft, but the core of the team that flopped this year despite high expectations remains intact.
New General Manager Mike Hazen sounds like he plans to keep it that way, making changes on the margins of the roster while hoping for a bounce-back from the pitching staff.
He already has made a few moves he hopes will lead to improved run prevention.
