The debate persists on the value of playing the World Baseball Classic. The Arizona Diamondbacks were honored with the selection of nine players to seven WBC teams, and things seem to have worked out well.
After Team Italy was eliminated earlier this week, infielder Daniel Descalso returned to the Diamondbacks’ spring camp at Salt River with an entirely new perspective. After Italy dropped a 4-3 decision to Venezuela and eliminated from the tournament, Descalso was immediately inserted in Thursdays Arizona lineup against the Milwaukee Brewers.
Still in WBC competition is Paul Goldschmidt with Team USA, Fernando Rodney with Team Dominican Republic and Reymond Fuentes with Team Puerto Rico.
