Third baseman Eduardo Escobar wore a mask through much, if not all, of the Diamondbacks’ workout on Tuesday, at several points appearing to be the only player on the field wearing one.
Players aren’t required to wear masks when they’re on the field, but Escobar said he plans to wear one throughout the season during workouts and batting practice. His mask is the image of the flag of his native Venezuela.
“I can do it every day,” he said. “It’s safer for everybody. The coronavirus is very, very dangerous. I want to make sure everybody is safe.
