Arizona Diamondbacks Draft Pick: JD Dix

Related Topics: Arizona Diamondbacks

The Diamondbacks wrapped up a whirlwind of three picks in seven slots by taking a surprise pick in JD Dix, a prep shortstop out of Whitefish Bay in Wisconsin. The Diamondbacks have had some success drafting out of Wisconsin in recent years, and Dix is a switch-hitting shortstop who projects as average or above-average across the board. This is a high-upside pick who fits well with how the Diamondbacks have selected in recent years.

He’s 6’2” and 180, should be able to stick at shortstop, and reportedly has a great work ethic. Despite being a bit of a reach, he’s probably not going to take a discount, as he could go to Wake Forest, and the Diamondbacks have to sign him.
