Infielder Asdrubal Cabrera continues to progress at an “unbelievable” pace from the right hamstring strain that sent him to the injured list in mid-May, manager Torey Lovullo said.
Cabrera has been taking at-bats since last week while jogging lightly out of the batter’s box at extended spring training at Salt River Fields.
Lovullo said Cabrera could begin to test the hamstring at close to full running speed within a week. Lovullo said he is amazed at how quickly Cabrera has progressed considering he was considering undergoing surgery on his hamstring not long ago.
“He continues to push very hard to get as live of at-bats as he possibly can,” Lovullo said.
