Still searching for that power cleanup hitter, the Arizona Diamondbacks are ‘hopeful’ about landing J.D. Martinez, according to Bob Nightengale at USA Today.
The 36-year-old slugger, who earned his third consecutive All-Star nod in 2023, had an impressive season, smashing 33 home runs, notching 103 RBIs, and boasting a robust .572 SLG.
These 33 home runs marked a new high since 2019, so obviously, there is still plenty of pop left in his bat.
Having played for five different teams over his 13-season career, including the Astros, Tigers, Diamondbacks, Red Sox, and currently the Dodgers, Martinez brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record of offensive consistency.
