Arizona Diamondbacks add veteran left-hander Jorge De La Rosa

The Diamondbacks brought in another veteran pitcher on a minor league deal, this time signing left-hander Jorge De La Rosa on Sunday morning.

De La Rosa, 35, spent the previous nine seasons with the Colorado Rockies, working almost exclusively as a starting pitcher. But the Diamondbacks, who are light on experienced lefty relievers, are giving him a chance to win a spot in their bullpen.

“He’s going to compete,” Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo said. “He’s going to come in here like everybody else is. He’s going to have to win a spot here. I think it’s a great job by our front office to bring in somebody like that.
