Arizona Diamondbacks acquiring Brad Ziegler in trade with Miami Marlins

The Diamondbacks reunited with sidearming reliever Brad Ziegler on Tuesday, acquiring the right-hander from the Miami Marlins in exchange for Double-A reliever Tommy Eveld, according to a source.

Ziegler gives the Diamondbacks another late-inning option for their bullpen. The 38-year-old has just a 3.98 ERA this season, but he has a 0.64 ERA since June 5, giving up just two runs in 28 innings in that span.

It’s the second time the Diamondbacks have added Ziegler on July 31. They did the same back in 2011, acquiring him from the Oakland Athletics in exchange for first baseman Brandon Allen and lefty Jordon Norberto.
