Things got weird for “The Beard” on Saturday night.
Brought in to replace a dominating Zack Greinke with nobody out and a runner at second in the seventh inning, Diamondbacks relief ace Archie Bradley couldn’t bail out Arizona’s starting ace, and the result ended up being a 2-1 loss in extra innings to the Washington Nationals in front of 17,397 at Chase Field.
Greinke departed after throwing 91 pitches upon allowing a leadoff double to Michael A. Taylor. The Diamondbacks, however, were still leading 1-0 thanks to Greinke, who ripped an RBI single to left in the fifth inning.
