The 2023 season was a wild one for fans of the Arizona Diamondbacks. Snakes fans were privileged to see their team go on a late, unlikely run, forcing their way to the World Series, where they eventually lost to the Texas Rangers. Despite coming up short in the final series of the season, it was am incredibly fun and satisfying ride. However, one drawback to that level of in-season success is the way a team tumbles down the draft board as their season results improve. For Arizona, coming in runners-up in the World Series resulted in Arizona being left to select #29 for their first selection.
