General Manager Dave Stewart said negotiations between the Diamondbacks and center fielder A.J. Pollock are on hold, adding that the club has not closed the door on working out a long-term contract.
“We’re not on a ground that we can agree on right now,” Stewart said. “Their thoughts and our thoughts are different. It’s not that it’s a closed book, but for now we’re going to put it on the table and if we want to revisit we’ll come back and revisit.”
Stewart wouldn’t go into specifics on why talks broke down, but it’s reasonable to assume a multi-year deal wouldn’t come cheaply.
