LOS ANGELES -- Nick Ahmed's first-inning inside-the-park home run Wednesday showed once again that the D-backs have no intention of letting up, especially against the rival Los Angeles Dodgers.
Ahmed ripped Alex Wood's seventh pitch of the game off the top of the wall in center field and was off to the races. His sixth home run of the season was helped by the fact that center fielder Enrique Hernandez hit the wall at full speed and crumpled to the warning track as the ball rebounded toward the infield.
Right fielder Yasiel Puig tracked the ball and fired it to infielder Austin Barnes, whose relay throw to catcher Yasmani Grandal was too late to cut down a diving Ahmed.
