CHICAGO -- One day after his throwing error led to the winning run scoring, D-backs shortstop Nick Ahmed came up big, as his fifth-inning grand slam gave Arizona a 6-1 lead.
The D-backs capitalized on a lack of control by Cubs starter Tyler Chatwood and reliever Brian Duensing to load the bases. Paul Goldschmidt and A.J. Pollock drew back-to-back walks to lead off the inning before Steven Souza Jr. grounded into a double play.
Chatwood, though, walked Ketel Marte -- his sixth free pass of the game -- and Cubs manager Joe Maddon brought in lefty Duensing to face the left-handed-hitting Daniel Descalso.
