Adrian Del Castillo has been a rather polarizing prospect for the Arizona Diamondbacks. His sudden offensive surge this season has led to many Dbacks fans calling for the young backstops presence to be much higher in prospect rankings. However, many prospect evaluators have been quick to point to his ability behind the plate and long term viability at the catching position as a reason for pause to rank him higher in prospect rankings or to be more bullish on the young backstop’s future.
I had the pleasure of watching Del Castillo this weekend in person at Chase Field and one of the things that stood out to me was how good he really did look behind the plate as a catcher.
