PHILADELPHIA – The Diamondbacks didn't waste time in making a change for the ninth inning, bumping reliever Addison Reed out of the closer's role as he works through what manager Chip Hale called mechanical adjustments.
Reed blew his second save opportunity of the season on Wednesday afternoon, allowing a go-ahead grand slam to the Washington Nationals' Michael Taylor in the ninth inning at Chase Field.
Reliever Brad Ziegler could be a possibility to close, but Hale wanted to leave his options open in case the sidearmer was needed earlier in a game.
"We just have to see how we get there," Hale said.
