Drafted in the 4th round out of Rutgers, Patrick Kivlehan was more regarded in his ability on the football field than the diamond, but that didn’t stop the Mariners from drafting him anyway. While raw, he still showed tremendous power and hitting ability, smashing double digit homers and batting over .300 in his first two minor league seasons. He continued to hit, all the way to a lengthy cup of coffee with the Reds in 2017, where he hit 9 homers across 200 ABs.
The Reds resigned him to a minor league deal, but struggled to start 2018, leading to him being released.
