If I told you there was a player who had just been through the emotional roller coaster of having their number retired by an organization with which they spent more than two decades, you'd probably think that player couldn't wait to get home to spend quality time with their family.
And, in a way, that is what longtime Coyotes captain Shane Doan did after watching his No. 19 jersey rise into the rafters of Gila River Arena on Sunday.
Although the ceremony concluded around 6:30 p.m., Doan could still be found in the bowels of Gila River Arena almost 5 hours later, still signing autographs, taking pictures or just talking with anyone who came up to the Arizona sports legend.
