DENVER – Despite the reaction – and the blood – the infraction went uncalled.
Avalanche winger Jarome Iginla’s stick swiped Coyotes defenseman Kevin Connauton in the face and while Connauton dropped out of the action, clutching at his mouth, the puck continued to dance around the Coyotes’ zone until it wound up behind goalie Louis Domingue.
Connauton went to the bench with a cut on his lip, but it didn’t reverse the damage that had already been done.
“It’s missed, and it’s in the back of our net,” coach Dave Tippett said. “That’s the frustrating thing.
