The Coyotes' plan to relocate their American Hockey League affiliate to Tucson can now become a reality after the Tucson City Council unanimously approved a new arena lease agreement between the team and the Tucson Convention Center Tuesday evening, paving the way for a move in time for the 2016-17 season.
"Tucson is obviously the second largest market here in Arizona," Coyotes President and CEO Anthony LeBlanc said. "It's one that's a short two-hour drive from our NHL facility in Glendale. But most importantly, it's a market that we've been looking at since we bought the team three years ago.
