It’s no coincidence that Coyotes first-year coach Rick Tocchet pronounces his last name, “TALK-it,” because that’s what he’s been doing with his players — talking it out.
Coyotes winger Nick Cousins is the latest player to reap the benefits of a one-on-one conversation with the new Arizona head coach.
A player who was routinely a healthy scratch in the beginning of December, Cousins played the hero on Monday with a two-goal, three-point performance that included the overtime winner in a 3-2 victory over the New York Islanders on Monday at Gila River Arena.
“It’s been fun,” Cousins said of the Coyotes’ five-game point streak.
