The Arizona Coyotes split its back-to-back games this weekend at Mullett Arena, playing to the young team’s emerging identity in the first game, but then paying the price for costly mistakes in the second game.
The Coyotes looked gritty yet poised as the team gutted a 5-4 win over the New York Islanders. However, the progress from the night before didn’t carry over when the Coyotes fell behind the Buffalo Sabres, a young team with the NHL’s second-best power play.
With the early season spent heavily on the road, the Coyotes will close out its three-game homestand with the Montréal Canadiens (14-15-2), a team that has struggled as of late with three straight losses.
