Alex Ovechkin put Washington ahead with his league-leading 39th goal of the season and had an assist.
Evgeny Kuznetsov also had a goal and an assist for NHL-best Washington, which won its fourth straight and ninth in its last 10 games. Braden Holtby made 25 stops for his league-leading 38th win.
Defensemen Connor Murphy and Kevin Connauton scored for Arizona, which began a five-game East Coast road trip with its second consecutive loss.
