PITTSBURGH -- The Coyotes acquired winger Sergei Plotnikov from the Penguins Monday in exchange for minor-leaguer Matthias Plachta and a conditional 2017 seven-round draft pick.
Plotnikov had appeared in 32 games with the Penguins this season, chipping in two assists. This is his first season in the NHL as he previously played in the Kontinental Hockey League in Russia. The 25-year-old had been a healthy scratch since the beginning of January, and Pittsburgh had been trying to move him, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
